Riyadh TNTJ - 13th Blood Donation Drive 21-10-2011

Riyadh chapter of Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath (TNTJ), a social organisation from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, has planned to conduct a massive Blood Donation Drive, 13th time of this nature, in association with King Fahad Medical city (KFMC) hospital in Riyadh on 21.10.2011, Friday.

Blood collected during this campaign will be sent to MAKKAH and MADINA for the emergency use for pilgrims during this Haj season. This is the 5th consecutive year, this kind of drive is being conducted for Haajis. TNTJ has organised many such blood donation campaigns in King Faisal Specialist hospital as well as in King Fahad Medical city hospital.

TNTJ is a group of Tamil-Speaking people whose aim is to serve the people in whatever possible means. The voluntary donors shall include mothers from Tamil Nadu whose husbands working in the Kingdom.

Already a call has gone out for people to donate blood that could help save the lives of many people in need, in an emergency.

The event is open to all nationals. Lunch has been arranged for the donors.

For the last two years, TNTJ has been celebrating "Indian Independence Day" by organising blood donation camps during the week of Aug 15.

Volunteers will transport the donors to the hospital and back.

Donating blood is a fast and simple procedure. Blood donors can donate up to 450 ml of blood (one unit) every three months; this amount is small, given that the body contains five to six liters (10 to 12 units) of blood. The full blood donation procedure, takes no more than 15 to 20 minutes. Would-be donors are encouraged to visit King Fahad Medical City - Blood Bank via Makkah Road - (Service Road) Entrance No. 1.

Each donor will undergo clinical tests for blood pressure, Sugar, Haemoglobin count etc. before the donation. Blood bank will also check which includes diseases communicable by blood transfusion.

"The noble act of donating blood will not only give a new lease of life to many, it also heightens our common sense of social responsibility by serving the humanitarian and social needs of our local communities," the spokesman said.

We are guided by the Quranic teaching that says..." and if any one saved the life; it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people..." (Al-Quran 5:32) - TNTJ says.

This campaign starts at 9 AM to ends by 5 PM.
